Sleepover this weekend
We will be holding our annual sleepover this weekend which will mean the park is closed to non-participants from 4pm on Saturday 3rd August to 10am on Sunday 4th August.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
Cafe opening Tuesday to Sunday during summer holiday
The Little Cat Cafe will open from Tuesday to Sunday from next week (6th August) to help everyone make the most of the summer holidays.
The only exceptions will be when the weather is terrible and no-one is in the park, and also 14thAugust when we’ll close for staff training.
Music on the bandstand
South London Jazz Orchestra will play music from the classic swing era as well as more modern jazz and Latin compositions in a free concert on Myatt's Fields Park bandstand on Sunday 4th August from 2pm.
Help in the greenhouse and learn about food growing
Have you dreamed of being green-fingered enough to make meals from bountiful crops grown in your own backyard – but never managed to nurture anything beyond a tomato plant (or not even a tomato plant…)?
A new scheme at Myatt’s is offering a course in food growing to five volunteers, and if you are unemployed or on a low income, there is also the chance for free accredited training at CapelManor College. The park’s Greenhouse Group aims to become a “centre of excellence for food growing”, and the produce will be used by Myatt’s Fields Little Cat Cafe as well as in various local food projects. You would need to be available for five hours every Wednesday until next Spring.
No experience in food growing necessary, but you should be prepared for physical work outdoors in all weathers.
To apply or find out more, please email Kasia Olszewska and Fabrice Boltho.
Retired people’s lunch club
Retired people are welcome to come and eat lunch made with vegetables and fruit from the greenhouse at the depot from noon this Friday. These sessions are informal and friendly and everyone is welcome. We ask for a £2 contribution towards the cost of the food.
The lunch club is funded by the Peter Minet Trust.
Our free events for 2013 will include:
- August 3/4rd Sleepover
- 14th September Harvest Festival
- 19th October Big Draw
- 15th December Christingle carol concert
