Vote for Myatt's!
Help Myatt’s Fields Park win a People’s Choice Award by making two clicks – one on http://greenflag.keepbritaintidy.org/park-summary/?ParkID=864 and another to register your vote.
We were one of the record breaking 1448 parks and green spaces that received a Green Flag award this year and now the public is being asked to nominate their site of the year.
Last year, we had a fantastic response from local people and were voted the 10th most loved park in Britain so we'd love to have your support again this year.
Voting closes on 1st October so please don’t delay (and pass this on to friends and family)! For more information visit www.greenflagaward.org.uk.

Celebrate this year's harvest at Myatt's with a free performance by Levi Roots and a range of food fun for children and adults from 1pm to 4pm on 14th September 2013.
Levi, who lives locally and is starting to get involved with our food projects, will be headlining our Harvest Festival event with his Herbs and Spices band featuring Mafia and Fluxy and special guests: Earl 16, Tasonia, the Reggae Choir and more...
We'll have Thai and Caribbean stalls selling food made from vegetables grown in our greenhouse, and a cake stall featuring seasonal fruits and vegetables (with a display of vegetables too!).
Brixton People's Kitchen, who make monthly feasts at Myatt's from waste food, will be making magic with their mobile kitchen. Children will be able to cook over an open fire as well as foraging for food during a workshop provided by NaturActive (who give children the chance to explore nature during weekly sessions in the Mulberry Centre). Bee Urban will run a bee keeping workshop complete with a hive of bees.
Many thanks to the Heritage Lottery Fund which is funding the music, and to the Big Lottery Fund's Local Food scheme for supporting our food project. NaturActive workshop will be paid for by MFPP using income raised by hiring out the Mulberry Centre.
We'd very much appreciate help on the day, especially clearing up from 5pm. Also we'd love local people to bake for our cake stall especially using especially using vegetables or fruit that we've grown in greenhouse (eg beetroot, apples). If you'd like to bake and need some vegetables or fruit, contact me here.
Greenhouse open day
Help in the greenhouse this Sunday (8th September) and enjoy a free lunch afterwards. Our monthly gardening session, which is suitable for everyone and all ages, will take place from 11.30am on Sunday 8th. Everyone welcome - no prior knowledge of gardening needed.
Retired people's lunch club
Retired people are welcome to come and eat lunch made with vegetables and fruit from the greenhouse at the depot from noon this Friday. These sessions are informal and friendly and everyone is welcome. We ask for a £2 contribution towards the cost of the food.
The lunch club is funded by the Peter Minet Trust.
Parks - be part of the conversation
What do you think about local residents getting more closely involved with running Myatt's Fields Park?
Lambeth Council has traditionally managed parks and open spaces - from cutting the grass to collecting the litter - but now as a Cooperative Council it is changing its focus to supporting residents who want to have more say in how parks are managed, and how budgets are spent.
This might mean that a group of residents (possibly Myatt's Fields Park Project) could be managing Myatt's either independently or jointly with Lambeth.
Before the council does anything, it wants to know what you think, and therefore they're inviting the public to complete either a long online questionnaire or our short questionnaire. Public consultation ends on Friday 18th October 2013. As well as helping Lambeth to know your views, this would also help to guide what happens at Myatt's so we'd be very grateful for your views.
Our free events for 2013 will include:
- 14th September Harvest Festival
- 19th October Big Draw
- 15th December Christingle carol concert
