Vision
The vision for the park has been developed over the past seven years, by a process of consultation with local residents and regular park users. The aim has been to refurbish the park’s historic buildings and landscape and to offer a wide range of facilities and activities for everyone to enjoy.
Working with our landscape architects, Land Use Consultants, the plans have been through a number of stages of development until they were finalised for a Stage ll application for funding to the Heritage Lottery Fund in July 2006. Plans were also developed for the new playground, which has been designed by landscape architects, Cracknell Ferns Associates. The plans are based on a number of consultations with local parents and children and have been exhibited in the park.
When is it all happening?
Work was completed on the playground in September 2008. Work on the landscape began in May 2008, tree works in January 2008; work on the new children’s building and adult toilets should begin in February 2009 and work on the renovation of heritage buildings is being carried out between August and December 2008.
