Coming Soon - The Summer Fair - Save the date!

The current fine weather means we can't wait for our annual Summer Fair, happening this year on Saturday 17th June from 1 to 5pm. Save the date! There’ll be live music on the bandstand, a Big Lunch with delicious free food, served by Brixton People’s Kitchen, a children's fairground, fun activities run by local community groups and an inspiring Parade for Peace around the park at the end of the day. To find out more about the event or to book a stall (open to commercial or community organisations and individuals) or a table as part of the Big Lunch (community groups only), email Victoria.

Wild play for under 5s
Make friends with frogs, make art from twigs, have a ton of free range fun with your preschooler, while learning about the environment, at Marisa’s NaturActive playgroup. The group meets in the nature area close to the cafe, every Monday during school term, 10 to 11.30am, £2 per child.

Let's get planting
Fancy volunteering to help us get our beds prepared and planted for the summer? Meet at the Park Depot at 9.30am on Friday 9th June, then head up to work around the Roundhouse until about midday (or whatever time you can spare). Email our Park Manager Sara if you can come.

Veg on wheels
Look at this ingenious mobile veggie garden created by St Gabriel’s College with plants grown by Fabrice in the greenhouse. Our plant nursery is now supporting 50 community growing groups across Lambeth so can't take any more orders - thank you for spreading the word and supporting us to make the project a success.

Tea, cake, chat
Calling all long-time local residents! Join us at the Park Depot on Friday 2nd June, 10.30-11.30am, to share stories and reminisce about the past as part of Longfield Hall’s 'Showcasing our History' project. For more info, visit their website or call Catherine on 020 7978 9153.

Litter legends wanted!
Want to help keep your park looking spick and span over the summer months? We’re looking for 15 to 20 volunteer 'Litter Legends' who can spare an hour every fortnight to collect rubbish. We’ll provide briefing and kit. Click here to find out more.

Wildflowers ahoy

Antique peepshows

Don’t miss our exhibition of extraordinary Victorian peepshows, happening in the Roundhouse during our Midsummer Fair, 1-5pm on 17th June, as part of Camberwell Arts Festival. Take a peek inside the 18 shoeboxes on display to discover remarkable landscapes and city scenes from another age.

Food for thought
Grab a copy of the Brixton Bugle to read about our inspiring visit to Granville Community Kitchen in Kilburn. We had a fantastic day, discussing food and social change while cooking and eating delicious Caribbean-inspired chicken in citrus sauce together. Or read it online here.

Consultation: air pollution
You wouldn’t know it when you’re in the park but we’re not far from the most polluted road in London. Have your say on how to improve air quality in the local area by filling in this survey. TfL will report back to Mayor of London on the consultation, which is open until 25th June.

Be a Litter Legend

Litter in Myatt's Fields Park is at a high over the summer months, the playground and picnic areas are heavily used, and after hot weather it can take all day to clear the rubbish leaving no time for Myatt's gardeners to look after your green space.

So that’s where you can help!

We’re looking for 15-20 ‘Litter Legends’ to join Team Myatt’s as a volunteer and help litter pick in the Park for an hour in the early evening on Saturday, Sunday and one weekday. We’ll provide you with gloves, litter picker, hi-viz jacket and stash of bin bags, we’ll give you a briefing and co-ordinate groups on a rota to head into the Park.

If you'd like to become a Litter Legend to keep the Park looking spick and span, please contact our Park Manager Sara on manager@myattsfieldspark.info

If you can’t spare the time, you can still help us by taking your litter home with you – carry in, carry out! Tell your friends and spread the word to help keep Myatt’s clean and green!
