We manage the park |
|
Myatt’s Field Park Project manages Myatt’s Fields Park in partnership with Lambeth Council – as part of the council's Pioneer Parks programme.
We oversee all buildings and facilities, including the football pitches and tennis courts, the Mulberry Centre and Little Cat Cafe.
If you have any enquiries, please contact us.
In 2011 we completed our Parks for People Heritage Lottery fund restoration. In 2017 we were awarded up to £500,000 by Lambeth Council to renovate our park depot, creating a new community food hub and kitchen: we hope that this project will be delivered in 2021.

We run events
We run lots of different events throughout the year.
These include our Midsummer Fair in June, a live music programme on the bandstand throughout July and August, Autumn Fair in September and Winter Fair in December.
We also host a range of smaller activities – from yoga to bat walks, sleepovers, African drumming sessions and gardening clubs for adults and children.

We're a food hub
In Victorian times, people grew fruit and vegetables in the park to sell at the old Covent Garden Market.
The park takes its name from Joseph Myatt, a tenant farmer who was famous for growing rhubarb, strawberries and cabbage.
Today we’re an Edible Park with cherries, apples, pears, hazelnuts, mulberries and a fig tree. In 2009, the charity redeveloped the park’s the derelict greenhouse to grow food for the park, the cafe and for community activities. Our greenhouse supports local food growing projects on estates, in schools and on streets, providing free seedlings and advice.
Since 2013 we’ve run nearly 500 community food activities including World Kitchen at the Mulberry Centre, Cook Like a Caribbean and Food Heroes – where local people teach others about the food they love.
Gary McQuiggin made two short films about our work. One about our Retired People's Lunch Club and another about other Myatt’s Field Park Food Projects.
We’re a proud member of Incredible Edible Lambeth and the Lambeth Food Partnership – and we’re working with others to transform our local food system as part of Vassall and Coldharbour Covid-19 Response.

We support local families
Thanks to funding from Lambeth Early Action Partnership, we employ two family engagement workers, Clare and Sylvia. Their role is to find out what services and activities families would like to see for babies and young children (aged four and under) in Vassall Ward and to build a network of parents, which will form the basis of a parents forum to ensure that the views of local families are heard. They organise events in the park and surrounding area, for example a Teddy Bear’s Picnic at Liz Atkinson Children’s Centre, coffee mornings and toy swaps at Myatts Field South, Myatts Field North and Cowley estates, crafts and storytelling at Minet Library, and cook and eat sessions at the Mulberry Centre. Find out more about what’s coming up or email Clare and Sylvia at clare@leapintovassallandcoldharbour.org or Sylvia@leapintovassallandcoldharbour.org
We work for the community
We work in collaboration with many fantastic local organisations for the benefit of our community. Local football team Lambeth Tigers, based in the park after a nearby estate redevelopment, provide training for up to 200 young people a week. MFPP is a nurture organisation for London Community Foundation, holding and administering small grants on behalf of local people, and we’ve helped to develop Vassall and Coldharbour Forum, which brings together up to 60 local organisations to work strategically with the aim of creating long term and sustainable change. MFPP is a member of Minet Hub which brings together the park, Longfield Hall, Minet library, the Remakery and Minet Conservation Association to deliver a range of services for local people. Sustainable in every way
We are working to become more financially sustainable, better meet the needs of our local communities and make our governance more effective and inclusive. Get involved or find out more.
