For over 20 years, Myatt’s Fields Park has pioneered the "edible park" movement. Following our latest tree planting last week, we are proud to announce that 35% of the park is now officially dedicated to wildlife and pollinators. We aren't just a park; we're a thriving, urban ecosystem.
Myatt’s Fields Park is a pioneer of the "edible park" movement, championing urban rewilding and culturally diverse food growing. We are incredibly proud to announce that our efforts were recently recognized with the Lambeth Civic Award for Climate and Green Spaces 2026.
Following our latest tree planting last week, 35% of the park is now officially dedicated to wildlife and pollinators. This rewilding initiative, stretching from wildflower meadows and wildlife ponds to our "World Physic Garden", creates a thriving ecosystem for quiet reflection. Our community food-growing project is more vital than ever, bridging the gap between local estates, schools, and balconies to the park’s own fruit trees, providing a sustainable food source for both neighbors and nature.
By integrating edible hedges, shelter belts, and nectar-rich beds, we have built a "living laboratory" that is resilient against climate change. These spaces do more than just look beautiful; they provide essential "stepping stones" for urban biodiversity and a hands-on classroom for local residents to learn about seasonal harvests. This award confirms what we see every day: that an urban park can be both a sanctuary for nature and a nourishing, productive hub for the community.
