Sleepover
Families are invited to camp in Myatt’s Fields Park on 20th to 21st August during our first sleepover.
The sleepover will include camp fires, unamplified music in the early evening and a free full cooked breakfast in the morning.
West African group KAAGO will perform tantalizing traditional dance and drumming in costume and masks evoking the animal and natural world. (7-7.50pm)
Gypsy duo Katherine Toy on accordion and Nick Goode on violin will play rousing melodies for dancing, clapping and singing together around the campfire (8-8.50pm) winding down with walk-about and lullaby.
We are starting small with 100 people in total and it will be bedtime for everyone at 10pm sharp. The sleepover has been organised in partnership with the Territorial Army, who will provide stewards and overnight patrols.
The park will be closed from 6pm on 20th August until 10am on 21st August, and the only people allowed on site will be the campers.
As this is a family event, no single adults (over 16 years) will be eligible, and all under 16s must be accompanied by an adult. Half the places have been reserved for people who are unwaged and the sleepover is open to Lambeth residents only. We have a limited amount of funding to provide camping equipment for people who are unwaged and the sleepover is free to everyone taking part.
To apply, please fill in the form on the events page of our website (http://www.myattsfieldspark.info/bandstand--events.html). We will allocate places on a first come, first served basis. We have a limited number of tents and sleeping bags which we can lend to people who are unwaged so please do apply for these if you need them.
If you are successful in securing a place, you will receive a confirmation letter with information about the event. Applications will be dealt with on Tuesday to Thursday over the next two weeks so don’t worry if you don’t receive a reply straight away.
The sleepover is funded by Lambeth’s Festivals and Events Fund and the music is funded by The Big Lottery's Awards for All fund.
