THE BIG DRAW THIS SATURDAY
We’ll have reggae music and art workshops around the bandstand from 1pm to 5pm this Saturday 13th October as everyone is welcome to join us to paint the park.
The London City Reggae choir will perform a variety of Jamaican music from ska through to dancehall and new roots reggae. They will be joined on the bandstand by DJ Zinc Fence who has been playing reggae in Brixton for more than 15 years and has run Catch A Fire Upstairs at the Ritzy for the past six years.
We’ll provide chalk for drawing on the ground, and artists will invite people to build a cardboard box “house” with a cress roof. We’ll also ask people to help us paint signs for our vegetable beds in the greenhouse.
New history and bio-diversity leaflets about the park will be available during the afternoon. We will also be giving out our new nature packs which allow people to help us record the bio-diversity found in the wildlife area.
We would very much appreciate help during the afternoon – setting up, working on the cake and beer stalls, helping run art activities and clearing away later. Please contact me if you can help via email or ring 0207 926 0394, stating which activity you’d like to help with.
The music is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
